Fond Improv Memories in Exuberant Theatre Company

When I first started learning improv comedy at a formal institution, I wanted some flexible after-hours practice. My Level 1 instructor Sean had his own business, and thus began my time at Exuberant Theatre Company.

Based in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego, Exuberant is open to all skill levels and offers a fun, supportive community where you can practice your acting skills, improve your public speaking and meet new people.

Every class features a rotating agenda of improv games and exercises to help you grow. Sean’s experience and easygoing personality creates the perfect hotbed for learning while having fun. You’ll naturally become friends with the regulars while still seeing new faces each week. The classes are sold per session or in packs for use when needed, so they work with your busy schedule.

Every few months, the class puts on a student show to showcase what they’ve learned. It’s a great way to see what you’ve picked up and get live audience experience.

Every month the class goes out for pizza and drinks at a local restaurant that’s walking distance from the recreation center. I got to know so much about my classmates’ lives and experiences and it was a great way to build relationships. People also periodically host their own social events so there is something for everyone.

If you’re ever in San Diego and want to try improv, I’d highly recommend checking out Exuberant Theatre Company!
